Dr. Mackenzie Hagan earned her PhD in Cellular Biology and Anatomy from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, USA in May 2021. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training. Prior to enrolling in college, Mackenzie was Nationally Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. She has an extensive background in orthopedics, with 10 years of combined academic experience in bone biology, sports medicine, and emergency medicine with additional expertise in cancer biology. Gina M Jansheski, M.D. is a board-certified pediatrician with 22 years of practice experience. After completing medical school and residency at the University of Arizona, she did a one-year fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. She then embarked on a career in hospital medicine, becoming the medical director of her pediatric hospitalist group and later bringing palliative care and hospice services to the practice. Later in her professional life, she served as the medical director of The Painted Turtle, one of the Paul Newman Serious Fun medical camps. During her nearly five years in that position, she collaborated year-round with an incredible staff of volunteer specialist physicians and nurses to provide the full camp experience for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.
